We have supported Nathan, 17, through bursaries from the Superior STEM Fund for the last two years and we are very pleased that the very ambitious and talented student has just been offered a place at Emmanuel College, Cambridge.

Nathan secures a place at Emmanuel College, Cambridge!

Here is Nathan’s story in brief.

Nathan lives in Christchurch with his cousin and his mum who is a single parent on a very low income.

Nathan has always been excited by Maths and the sciences. He has been to Cambridge and Oxford for several maths, physics and chemistry courses which encouraged him to continue with his maths and science studies.

From a young age, he was inspired by Einstein, Stephen Hawking, Brian Cox, Alan Turing and other mathematical and scientific theorists. He is aspiring to become a research professor at Cambridge University one day.

Thanks for your help, I have not had any difficulties or challenges and I have been able to enjoy every opportunity because of the support I have received from the Foundation.

The two bursaries Nathan received from the fund covered the cost of travel to and from college, study trips, a laptop and stationery needed for his course.
