Support from the fund came in the form of hampers, which incorporated fresh Christmas dinner items as well as vouchers for toys and fuel.
DCF worked with four of the local food banks, who helped numerous families at this special time of year.
One of the beneficiaries, a mum of six explained: ‘I came in this morning for the first time and I just wanted to say I am so grateful for everything you’ve given me and especially for the luxury Christmas bag. It was a massive surprise & a massive help as I don’t think I’ll be able to have Christmas without it, so I am truly grateful. I also wanted to say how lovely you all are and how welcome I felt as I was very nervous & tearful so you so a great job and thank you so much again. I hope to give back to the food bank when I’m in a better position so many thanks again, all the best – Merry Christmas.’
The proceeds of the fund came from the sale of special Christmas art hampers Stuart created.
