Dorset Race Equality Council is one of DCF’s funded groups, who have received support from the Foundation for the coordination of volunteer community leaders who support vulnerable individuals from ethnic minority groups experiencing financial hardship.

People from various ethnic minorities have been disproportionately affected by the Coronavirus pandemic as some of them were homeless before and have found themselves in hotels and hostels and have only access to a meal a day and that meal is at times not appropriate as it does not meet the cultural needs of the individuals (i.e. Halal meat, vegetarians, vegan). Many others were running a small business and had to shut due to the pandemic, but they not necessarily meet the criteria for Government help and have found themselves with no income.

Dorset Race Equality Council continues to support those ethnic communities in need of support.
