The Foundation provides an opportunity for individuals, trusts and companies to improve the lives of Dorset residents facing disadvantage and since its inception 16 years ago has distributed millions of pounds to hundreds of local charities and community groups. Trustees, staff and Ambassadors were also joined by the Foundation’s Patron – the Lord-Lieutenant of Dorset Mr Angus Campbell and the new High Sheriff – Sir Philip Williams who is also an Ambassador for the Foundation.
Tracy Melling, Chief Executive at the Foundation elaborated: ‘We were very pleased to celebrate this major funding milestone with our closest network of supporters. Trustees and Ambassadors help us raise our profile and are advocates of the work of our charity – our success is their success!’
The Foundation supports Dorset residents by raising and channelling donations to where they are needed most across the county – such as a befriending scheme for isolated lonely people in Swanage, a disability sports club in Poole and bursaries for young people who, due to disadvantaged backgrounds or disabilities, need help reaching their full potential.Organisations such as companies and trusts as well as individuals can give back
Organisations such as companies and trusts as well as individuals can give back through the charity. Setting up a fund with the Foundation is an alternative to establishing a charity with all the administration and governance taken care of. The local knowledge and grant-making expertise of the Foundation guarantees maximum local impact – funds reach those who need them most, building thriving local communities.
