The fund was set up through a large legacy left to the Foundation by the retired teacher Marjorie Gordon. She wanted her bequest to support education causes for young people as that fitted with the profession she dedicated her life to.

Part of the funding for the bursaries we distribute via the DCF Bursary Scheme come from this fund. As the bequest from Marjorie came in the form of a large legacy we were able to invest it as part of our endowment, so her bequest will support not only current, but also future generations of disadvantaged young people looking to start or continue their vocational training or education.
