The Samuels Fund

A couple who fell in love with Dorset set up a charitable fund to support communities there after their death. It will fund grants for grass roots charities and community groups tackling poverty and disadvantage caused by age, illness, disability or isolation, with priority given to people with cancer, associated conditions or life-limiting illnesses.

Let’s Create Jubilee Fund

The Let’s Create Jubilee Fund supports voluntary and community groups by developing new creative and cultural activities as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June 2022. The fund was created by Arts Council England (ACE) with funds from the National Lottery.

The Vivien Helen Barnard Fund

The family of late Dorset resident Vivien Helen Barnard wanted to use her estate to benefit grass roots groups and charities across the county.

Designs for Humanity Fund

The Designs for Humanity Fund is established by our Ambassador and internationally recognised local artist Stuart Semple to support families and individuals in need of support in our local communities.

Nature Heals Seed Fund

In partnership with Dorset High Sherrif, Sibyl Fine King, the Nature Heals Seed fund offers small grants to community groups using the benefits of the natural world to improve the lives of local people.

Change For Good Fund

A partnership of charities, including Dorset Community Foundation, businesses and public sector organisations, formed the BCP Council Homelessness Action fund to help rough sleepers in Dorset find and keep a home.

Lord Lieutenant’s Fund for Young & Talented

The Lord-Lieutenant’s Fund for Young and Talented was formed in partnership with HM Lord-Lieutenant of Dorset, Mr Angus Campbell, is to ensure that every young person has the same opportunities to develop their sporting talent regardless of background, financial or personal circumstances. The chief aim is to ‘level the playing field’ within the diverse array of young sporting talent in Dorset.

Sir George Earle Fund at UKCF

The Sir George Earle Benevolent Fund is named after its principal benefactor, the late Sir George Earle. The fund was established in 1974 and was transferred to UKCF in 2018. The purpose of the fund is to support current and former employees of Blue Circle Industries in the UK s in cases of financial hardship and to fund local projects supporting older people facing loneliness and isolation.

Made by Sport Fund

The Made by Sport Fund, in collaboration with Made by Sport, was launched to offer local sports clubs and organisations the opportunity for a grant to help support young people in the recovery from the effects of the COVID-19 lockdowns on their sporting activities.

Living Legacy Fund

The Living Legacy Fund was created to help the charitable organisations in the BCP area, by funding services and activities that bring people together to support one another, providing healthy social activities, and supporting locals' personal aspirations and skills. 

Kitson and Trotman Fund

Kitson & Trotman legal services support the Dorset Community Foundation by donating any unclaimed client balances to support local good causes.

Superior STEM Bursary Fund

The STEM Bursary Fund has been set up by a local company - Superior to support disadvantaged young people aged between 16 and 21 in training or education with bursaries of up to £1,500.

John Jay’s Fund

As part of Dorset Community Foundation's Neighbourhood Neighbourhood Fund, the John Jay's Fund was established after the closure of the John Jay's charity and the transfer of its remaining funds to Dorset Community Foundation.

BCP Council Food & Energy Support Fund

Dorset Community Foundation worked with BCP Council to establish the BCP Food Support Fund, as part of an effort to distribute funds to vulnerable people living in Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole.

The David and Quinta Woodward Family Fund

Established in February 2021, The David and Quinta Woodward Family Fund focuses on supporting the existing DCF Bursary scheme helping disadvantaged young people to acquire practical skills improving their employment prospects. The fund also supports the homeless, particularly projects which seek to transition the homeless into accommodation and rebuild their lives.

The Paul Cornes Fund

The Paul Cornes Fund is a fund which was established by his partner, Tom Flood and supported by friends and loved ones in memory of Paul. The fund supports projects which address disadvantage and create opportunities, improving the lives of people across Dorset.

The Corton Hill Fund

The Corton Hill Fund was established in March 2020 by a very generous family living close to the Somerset/Dorset border.

Dorothy Enid Bartlett Fund

This fund was established as a result of our partnership with Humphries Kirk solicitors.

The Lester Aldridge Fund

The Lester Aldridge Solicitors Fund supports local charities & community groups which address a variety of areas such as disability, education and sports. An example of one of their beneficiaries was the near £3000 donated to Age Concern Dorset through the Lester Aldridge Solicitors Fund, helping to support older people in North Dorset.

The Daisy Fund

The Daisy Fund was set up by a local Dorset couple who chose to name the fund after their beloved dog called Daisy. The Fund awarded grants to charities which help individuals 'move on' in life, by affecting a positive change people's lives that may lead to new opportunities.

The Tampon Tax Community Fund

This UKCF funding program allocated funds generated from the VAT on sanitary products to projects that improve the lives of disadvantaged women and girls. The Tampon Tax Community Fund supported local organisations working with women who are most marginalized to overcome barriers that prevent them from fulfilling their potential.

The Gladys Watson Fund

The Fund established by Stephen & Ingrid Uden and named after Stephen’s great aunt Gladys (pictured below) was set up to enable young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to reach their full potential.

The HK Law Fund

We are delighted to be working with a leading Dorset and Somerset law firm Humphries Kirk who have partnered with the Foundation to utilise unclaimed client balances to benefit local charitable causes.

The Dorset Performing Arts Fund

The Dorset Performing Arts Fund supports artists, groups and projects in the creation and delivery of the performing arts in East Dorset, West Dorset, North Dorset, Purbeck and Weymouth & Portland.

The Primrose Fund

This fund was set up in 2018 by local philanthropists Kelvin and Pippa Medley-Jones in memory of Kelvin’s late mother Primrose.

The Graham Burrough Fund for Mental Health

The Graham Burrough Fund for Mental Health was set up via a trust transfer from a closing down charitable trust which has supported over 100 groups in the last 18 years. The Trust was initially founded in 1998 by Graham’s widow, Pam, both to remember him and in gratitude for the care he received.

Wessex Water Community Fund

DCF works together with Wessex Water through the Wessex Water Community Fund which awards grants to charitable and community activities which aim to strengthen communities by addressing local needs and issues, and improve the lives of local people, especially those who are in the most need of support.

The Collins Fund

The Collins Fund was set up by David Collins with a transfer from his existing family charitable trust.

The Toby’s of Shaftesbury Fund

The Toby’s of Shaftesbury Fund provides grants for local community groups supporting young people in Shaftesbury and surrounding villages. Toby’s – a Shaftesbury Young People’s Project – was a charitable organisation operating in Shaftesbury, Dorset from 1999 – 2016. The charity provided support to enable young people to reach their full potential in all areas of their lives.

iWill Programme (Formerly Youth Social Action Fund)

This fund has been developed as part of the #iwill campaign, which aims to increase youth volunteering by 50% by 2020 and is being delivered by many community foundations across England.

Joy & Lance Collier Fund

The Legacy Fund was set up by their daughters, Bridie, Anne and Janet, as a unique and lasting tribute to the life of their parents.

Bournemouth Communities Fund

Bournemouth Communities Fund was set up by transferring several Trusts from Bournemouth Borough Council to provide funding for Bournemouth's bicentennial year celebrations

Bournemouth and Poole College Art Prize Fund

Bournemouth and Poole College have set up the Fund with us to support and encourage engagement in the visual arts by people of all ages in Dorset.

Bournemouth and Poole College Foundation Fund

In 2011 Bournemouth and Poole College transferred to the Foundation three funds totalling £36,789 which we match funded to create a £73,578 fund.

Comic Relief Local Communities Fund

Comic Relief for Dorset aims to help local communities suffering from economic and social deprivation across the county.

Dorset County Council Fund

 The Dorset County Council Fund was set up in 2011 to build the capacity of the voluntary and community sector and parish and town councils in order to deliver stronger services and support for local communities. Dorset County Council recognised and values the potential of organisations of all sizes working across Dorset to deliver outcomes for the communities they serve. 

Dorset Communities Fund

Dorset Communities Fund was set up by several trust transfers from Dorset County Council and supports shire Dorset based charitable projects. The initial transfer of funds was invested in an endowment fund and the yield from it is distributed in the form of grants to Dorset based projects each year.

The Edwards Fund

Jean Edwards MBE is one of our Ambassadors and a former Trustee of the Foundation.  She handed over the management of her own charitable fund to the Foundation, which enabled her to make grants to local charities and community groups of which she would have been entirely unaware without the guidance of the Foundation. 

Marjorie Gordon Fund

The fund was set up through a large legacy left to the Foundation by the retired teacher Marjorie Gordon. She wanted her bequest to support education causes for young people as that fitted with the profession she dedicated her life to.

Perrys Recycling

Dorset Community Foundation teamed with Perrys Recycling and launched a charity paper bank scheme with the support and agreement from local supermarkets across Dorset.

Poole Communities Fund

Poole Communities Fund was set up by a trust transfer from the Borough of Poole.

Salisbury Diocese Social Welfare Fund

The fund aims to support the most disadvantaged in particular areas in Dorset.

Tallships Pelican Fund

The Fund was set up by a contribution from an individual donor which was match funded by Grassroots Endowment Match. This fund gave young people from disadvantaged backgrounds the opportunities to learn new skills and experience life on board the Tall Ship Pelican.
