We have just launched the first of its kind Dorset wide mental health fund. The Graham Burrough Fund for Mental Health was officially launched at the Foundation’s annual celebration event on Monday which was held at Lord & Lady Fellowes’ magnificent home Stafford House.
The fund which will open for applications in November will support local groups working with people with mental health issues such as therapeutic and support groups, carers support & respite and projects promoting education for a better understanding of mental health issues.
Jon Yates, Chief Executive at the Foundation explained: ‘We are very pleased that through our new fund we can provide targeted support for local groups helping people with mental health issues. As highlighted by preliminary findings from our Hidden Dorset Report around 130,000 people locally are estimated to have a mental health issue. The new fund was set up via a trust transfer from a charitable trust which has supported over 100 groups in the last 18 years. The Trustees were looking for a long-term home and we are delighted to have been able to provide that and as a result, continue their work in making a difference to local people’s lives for years to come’
